360fit - You Can Be a Runner by Devin Sherrington

Everyone can be a runner! Unless you have a injury you can learn to run. In my two plus years as the trainer for The Blue Nose Marathon the one thing I have been impressed with is just how easy it is to become a runner.

The problem for people is not becoming a runner. The issue is people feel like they need to be the fastest runner to be allowed to run, and they have to look a certain way to run. In fact nothing could be farther from the truth.

I'm 5'10" and weigh 220 lbs. There is nothing about me that says runner. Football player maybe, but distance runner?Nope! I don't look the part at all.

But the fun thing about running is I can run fairly well. It just takes the time putting in running to get good at it.
If you want to run its fairly easy. You just have to start small.

When you begin to run start with a one minute on one minute off plan. So run a minute and walk a minute. Do that for two weeks then bump up to two minutes run one minute walk for another week and then build from there one extra minute each week.

Next thing you know you will be running 10 minutes straight. And once you are running 10 minutes you really don't need to stop and walk anymore. You're a runner!

It is that easy to become a runner. In 10 to 12 weeks you can become a runner! So don't stress about how you look running or thinking you have to be great when you start running. No one is good at anything until they have practiced. So get practicing and become a runner!
